A cast steel angular grit produced by crushing specially heat treated oversize
shot pellets. Its behaviour in service depends on hardness - a characteristic
readily modified by suitable heat treatment.
GP Steel Grit is used mainly in wheel-blast machines for cleaning or preparation
work on special surfaces.
In addition, GL and GH Steel Grit are equally suitable for use in wheel-blast
machines and in most cases air blast equipment.
GP STEEL GRIT
This abrasive, which is angular when new, rapidly becomes rounded in use, giving
a better performance in certain cases such as descaling, with little or no
variation in maintenance costs compared to steel shot.
GL STEEL GRIT
Although harder than GP Steel Grit, GL also loses its sharp edges during shotblasting
and is particularly suited to heavy descaling and surface preparation requirements.
GL steel grit cleans rapidly to give a clean finish to all surfaces.
GH STEEL GRIT
Having maximum hardness, GH remains angular in its operating mix. This steel grit does
not shatter readily, yet has a fast, effective cutting action, making it ideal for deep
descaling and etched surface requirements.
Metabrasive Steel Grit is made in accordance with ISO 11124-3 : 1993, (BS7079: Part E3
: 1994).
Size ranges vary from G80, nominal size 0.007” (0.18 mm), to G12, nominal size 0.066”
(1.70 mm).
METAGRIT
Developed for use with compressed air equipment, this fine angular steel Grit is ideal
for surface preparation prior to painting, metallisation etc.
The size range of Metagrit 65 at 0.18mm - 0.85mm represents an instant, well balanced
operating mix. It is therefore unnecessary to condition the abrasive prior to use.
